Knitting moves to Wednesday

Attention to all our members and friends, COA’s knitting group is now being on held at the Centre on Wednesday from 2-4pm, and is free for all participants. This is great news for those knitters in our community who could not join us on Tuesdays and were missing the comradery and fun of getting together to knit or crochet simple squares for blankets, simple patterns such as beanies, or more complex patterns.

Led by amazing COA member Sandy Hotz, a woman with a healthy dose of humour and old fashioned chutzpah, many have come to knitting group without ever having cast a stitch before, and have quickly learned the basics and started to help create soft dollies, blankets, scarves, beanies, and more.

There are always worthwhile knitting and crochet projects that the group are working on, and all the goods created are donated to support various causes in the wider community; from kids in the children's hospital to victims of flood, earthquake and fire here and overseas.

Our knitters are not just looking for new members to join their group, they are also seeking donations of wool, ribbon, knitting needles, crochet hooks etc. You can drop these donations to COA from Monday to Friday and all donations are greatly appreciated.

Kosher meals on wheels

COA's Kosher Meals are made by professional Kosher caterers and delivered to recipients homes by our friendly and dedicated volunteers. There is a large menu to choose from and every meal delivered is subsidised by COA, so why not check the menu and see if this service may be right for you.

COA is manned by a small paid staff who work hand in glove with over 200 active volunteers; coordinating and delivering services, providing organisational administration, taking enquiries from members, and ensuring compliance with government guidelines.

What we do

COA is a not-for-profit organisation in Eastern Sydney caring for the needs of Jewish and other seniors. We live our ethos by providing our clients connection to a social network of peers, activities in large and small groups 6 days weekly, and opportunities to access volunteer work, services, and support, to remain independently in their own homes for as long as practical. In all possible ways we aim to enrich the lives of Jewish seniors.
Management Committee

COA is governed by a volunteer Committee of Management whose members provide daily support to staff with running of activities, administration processes, and governance at the COA Centre. They determine our strategies going forward and ensure COA can provide the best quality services possible while remaining financially and legally secure.

COA Fresh is a weekly delivery of fresh produce and other items going to over 200 homes in our community. The program helps to provide food security to those who are unable to attend the shops and may not have the finances to afford fresh fruit and vegetables each week.
