By Sabina Kovadlo, COA's Chief Operations Officer

I would like to pay a special tribute to our office staff. As some of you may or may not know Covid brings with it a unique set of challenges. Our team above all else specialises in getting on with the job and making things happen. Like many other organisations we had to be extremely flexible, working under very trying conditions. I’d like to give you a glimpse of what that’s like and the challenges that are being overcome. For our work at home staff it means isolation, endless phone calls and zoom meetings and hopefully a great internet connection.

The rest of our team is enduring picking up the extra physical work required to be done in the office to ensure that 600 Kosher Meals-on-Wheels and over 300 COA fresh parcels continue to go out each week. The phones still must be answered, accounts  paid, bookings made, the mail outs must continue, the Rosh Hashanah parcels are underway, and extra love and care is provided to those that need it in these trying times. All this is performed with love and in the comfort of a face mask being worn for a minimum of 7.5 hours straight!

As a quotable quote I am not sure from where, “in this pandemic, we are all in the same storm but in different vessels”. Our experiences day to day may differ but I am really proud of the contribution our incredible office staff make in getting through this with their passion, care, diligence and most of all good humour. Please join me in thanking them for their service to the community, the next chance you get.
