Volunteers honoured for their work with COA

On November 6th COA volunteers were amongst those honoured at Parliament House at a special event hosted by the NSW Centre for Volunteering. Each year the Centre for Volunteering holds nominations for the best of the best in volunteering that year, and in 2022 this proved to be one of our own much loved volunteers, Ben Politzer, who has worked tirelessly with our Committee of Management as well as acting as an assistant on our busses bringing members to and from Club COA.

Ben was on hand to accept the Award for excellence in Not for Profit Governance, presented by Scott Farlow MP. Ben was supported on the night by his lovely and talented wife, Shirley Politzer OAM.

After the awards were presented, volunteers from all the different organisations had an opportunity to mingle and talk about their work, their common struggles, the changes to volunteering during COVID, and their aspirations for 2023.
