A volunteer workforce - By the aged, for the aged

COA was founded on the principle of seniors helping each other to live happier, healthier, more connected lives

Jack helps build our centre

COA gatherings outgrew the Jewish Folk Centre, and we sought help to build a home of our own. Volunteer Jack Krygier came to our rescue, as he had done before, and with his help the COA Jack Krygier Centre became a reality

How our services grew

We started with the simple premise of delivering a kosher meals on wheels program, but very soon this expanded to a full range of services to help Jewish seniors remain independent in their own homes, and provide social and cultural connection.

COA begins

COA was created by Myer Kangan AO OBE and a group of active retirees who researched needs in the Jewish Community which were not being addressed.
