If you have been to Club COA activities you have probably met Robin, as she has been a regular volunteer in the Centre for 14 years this May. Robin works as a hall host, assisting the set up of the Centre before members arrive, seating people, offering refreshments, playing games, serving lunch, and chatting and joking with members on  Mondays and Wednesdays.

What you may not know is that on the days between Club COA, Robin is in the office offering her time packing newsletters, checking lists, putting together parcels for the Hannah Meyer Project to distribute to aged care facilities and  kosher meal recipients for chagim, or assisting clients on our twice weekly mystery bus outings. In short, Robin will take on any job handed to her, always with a smile and a willingness to jump right in.

During the worst of the pandemic, Robin became one of our most valuable volunteers, putting her hand up for any activity that needed doing, and selflessly providing her labour and bright spirit. In particular, she lent her hand and continues to pack weekly parcels of fruit and vegetables for our COA Fresh Program sponsored by Peter and Jenny Wohl and Family.

In 2021 her contribution has been recognised by a  well-deserved nomination in Waverley's Annual Local Hero Awards. And even if Robin does not get the top award, she will always be a hero to us!!
